lower res moving around in viewport

I’ve disabled the function somehow where when you move around the viewport, your high res mesh will go to the lowest version just when you are moving and then revert back to your highest active subdivision when you stop.

This was really helpful and I can’t seem to restore it. Now, it’s just holding at whatever subdivision I have currently even when I’m rotating my mesh which is slowing things down a lot. Does anyone know where this is toggled in zbrush 4.0 for mac?

Thanks for any help you can offer with this or pointing me in the right direction of where it’s documented or talked about on other threads.

Preferences>Performance>QuickAndDirtyEdit>QTransThreshold1

This needs to be turned on. The setting can vary depending on what you need.
You must have multiple subD levels for this to work.

That can be adjusted in Preferences > Performance submenu with the QTransThreshold1 slider. The numerical value is in millions of polygons. The default setting is 1 which means that if the subtool exceeds 1 million polygons then ZBrush will switch to the next lowest subdivision level while rotating, moving or scaling. So the best you can do would be to set QTransThreshold1 to 0 which will lower it about 2 subdivision levels while rotating, moving or scaling.

edit: oops! goast beat me to the punch while I was typing.
