Low res in max to High res in ZBrush

Pilou

seconded.

Hi,

That is a fantastic modeling job! I would be interested in a tutorial. It would be great to see how you make the base model first.

Is there a good book or reference site on making the base models?

Thanks,

Steve

Great model. Only one small problem… You forgot to hide his rear *****…

Really cool model!

Joost

in stead of the ****** there should have been the word for male genital.

this is really great, the anatomy is spot on!!! 5 stars here
and i totally agree with the base mesh idea! its going to work wonders for my demo reel now!!
how many levels of subdivision do you find you have to go in ZB to get the right amount of details?
and what level do you create your displacement maps too?
if you dont mind me asking!

once again, AWSOME!! :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

oooh man metaM, that’s so great… I say only: its big big worth to have you as member here:sunglasses:

-cheers-

(sorry 4 my fuzzy-english…)

Really awesome work Metamesh. Makes me ashamed of my modeling. I especially like the abdominals and shoulders.

Why’d you cover his privates?

Im vote for the tutorial, it can help to some of us, and under all, to the people like me, that modelling slow with other software. im wait that is can be possible.
Thanks and congratulations.

Hey metamesh,

what I really find interesting is that you begin with such a low res mesh done in 3dsmax. I think one can learn a lot of your work. Keep on inspiring!
Do you also animate the low res mesh?

cheers,
xbucket

can anybody tell me what this squares on the surface are? i had this problem many times, but i do not know what it is and hw to fix, perhaps metamesh knows it

(very astonishing work :+1: )metamesh3d.jpg

Do you have any masking applied??

Use the smooth tool, try a few subdivisions lower and work up.

no masking,
perfect uv map
already tried to smooth in every subdivision level

still a square on surface :frowning:

Well then I’m not sure. It sure does look like you accidentally masked, possibly with extra axis like z while you were working in x, for a moment. Then did an inflat or whathaveyou, then turned masking off. Done it myself at times. What is different from the previous version before you noticed this, what were your steps, it might help narrow it down. Another thing to consider is saving the recorded script out each session so that you can see what happened and in many cases you can fix a problem by having Zbrush rebuild from a previous version - very cool feature. (Scripts are editable and a bad stroke/action can be removed)

Sorry I can’t be more help, unless you can provide more info.

I completely agree with you, and feel that to find a part of the human anatomy to be offensive, especially when presented as a part of an anatomic study, is a repressed outlook. I see no need for such artwork to be censored. Also, to censor the image of a naked man whilst allowing the image of a nude female to be passed is hypocritical. So long as these artworks are not pornographic, I see there being no need to censor then in an artistic forum. Even so, others may campaign that pornography is art.

almost looks like a mirrored problem polygon on that part of the model.
Check the polygons at that spot on the cage in max maybe:confused:

kick-ass sculpt by the way !!

If you do a Tutorial on that…well…do a tutorial on that ok? please, please, please??? :+1:

ha ha, don’t forget AntiJanettJackson-Act, this is NOT european forum:lol:

hehe hi guys!
I agree with u about the censure etc, when i posted originaly he was naked etc and i thought no one would worry about it, but then again i guess that´s not europe and i´ve been asked to cover him up a bit since it could be offensive to some people  anyway the problem in the leg is just some masked polygon that i moved without intention, just smooth it and it´s gone!
i´m afraid i won´t be able to work on this guy for a few days now, gotta finish some other things firts :((
The horns were made maslking and inflating, then unmasking and retouching, moving etc…

Thanks for the comments guys really apreciated! hope to keep posting soon!

very nice modelling, great anatomy work.

I’m awaiting an explanation of your workflow, from 3dsMax to ZB and return, the way you generate your displacement map, your settings and so on…
