Low-poly scene unresponsive in ZBrush

Hi all. I have a low poly (about 46k) hard surface model in ZBrush that suddenly became unresponsive. Whenever I try to even move the scene around or scroll down the subtools, ZBrush takes about 2 minutes to respond.

I have several other projects that are 12-18 million polys and they work fine. It’s just this one project won’t respond.

You should install the P2 patch. ZPlugins:AutoUpdate, see if that helps.

Thanks Doug, I will try that now. I forgot we were on Patch 2 already.

Still the same after the patch update. I am going to try Solo mode and see if I can pin down a particular subtool as the culprit.

Maybe 1 subtool has a massive amount of undo history?

The undo history is gone when I open the project up days later Doug, you should see the no history in the screenshot. This project is a couple weeks old, I shelved it when the issue started.
I’ve pretty much decided this subtool is hogging it all up. Only 7000 polys but there is something wrong that is causing the issue. I tried to ZRemesher but ZRemesher crashes on that subtool. Then just a minute ago I dynameshed it successfully and that made it a little more responsive but not by much.

Worst case is I will need to remake that subtool and that should rescue the project. But I’d really love to know what the issue is so I can avoid it later on a more important project.

Hi, I dont know if this will help ,but you could check mesh integrity, to see if everything is ok with the model.

Thanks. Yes you could be on track there. ZRemesher crashing got me thinking along those same lines. Late last night I had a closer look at that subtool and some edge verts were pulled inside the geometry. So I used the trim brush to cut part of it away and then re-dynameshed. That resulted in much better responsiveness so I think the problem lay with the geo in that subtool.
To be on the safe side I will delete the subtool rather than risk it giving problems later on. I will make it again from scratch as it’s an easy one to make.

Thanks lads for all the help.
