Low Poly Displacement When Rendering in Maya

I made a displacement map in zbrush by going to tool/displacement. WHen I go back into maya 2009 I and apply the displacement map as a bump map im getting very low poly results like a sub division level 2 result in zbrush. Any ideas?

Might be because you are applying it as a bump map, not a displacement map

Its probey because maya is not subdividing your mesh at rendertime.

Try this:

select your model and go to window > rendering editors > mental ray >
approximation editor.
In this window select next to Subdivisions (polygon and subd. Surfaces) create. In your Attribute editor you can set how much the
mesh will subdivide. I use spatial. For tests I use the settings
1 - 3 and for the final render 5 - 7.

Oh, and don’t forget to render in Mentalray.

Don’t know if this is helpful or if you already have found a solution
to your problem,
