Loss of detail after delHidden

Okay, for some reason DelHidden smooths the detail on my high res mesh. Try this. create a sphere, make polymesh 3d, subdivide it a couple of times and start adding details to it. You can either use an alpha or cuts, as long as it’s sharp details. Now, go to the lowest sDiv, hide half of the sphere mesh and press “DelHidden”. After that go back to the highest sDiv. Now notice the detail has been softened. Why is this? Is this a feature? And I can’t use delHidden at the highest sDiv because then I would lose the low res geometry, and reconstruct sdiv doesn’t work, at least not in this case. Any ideas?

go to highest subd level, mask the whole model, go down to lowest level then do the delete
