losing symmetry when scaling model (answered)

Hello everybody.
I have a perfect symmetrical model. When I scale this model I have to place the tip of the transpose handle exactly on the x-axis because the scaling uses the handle tip as the scaling center. If I don’t place the handle precisely my model moves to the side during scaling and I lose the perfect symmetry.

Is there a way to scale the model exactly with the transpose tool? Or ist there a function to center the model on the x-axis after scaling?

If you use the ‘Size’ slider in ‘Tool > Deformation’ it will scale centered. If you have to use the ‘Scale’ transform then you can go to ‘Transform’ menu and click ‘S.Pivot’ to reset the pivot point after you scale it…

Thank you zber2, the ‘Size’ slider in ‘Tool > Deformation’ is what i need.

In addition to that I have found the ‘Info’ Sub-Menu under ‘Transform’. The help tells me the following

The Info sub-menu is a useful utility in ZBrush that shows current transform information, and lets you input numeric settings for precise transforms. In Move mode, the Info sub-menu displays the position of active object’s pivot point. To set a precise position for the object, click a slider and drag horizontally to set it, or click it and enter new data from the keyboard. When using the keyboard, press Enter to input the new data, and press Tab and Shift+Tab to move forward and backward between the fields.

This function would be useful to place my model precisely back at the default pivot 0/0/0. But I can’t move the sliders at all. Is this a bug?

No, it’s not a bug. Edit mode (T) has to be off and either Move (W), Scale (E) or Rotate ® transform has to be on to use those sliders, but, trust me, you don’t want to use those to move or reset anything. You can try it if you want, but IMO, just forget about the Transform Info submenu. If you want to place your mesh precisely back at the default pivot 0/0/0, just click the ‘S.Pivot’ button in the Transform palette, like I mentioned in my first reply.

Ok, thanks again zber2 :+1:
