Looking to get ZBrush and need advice

Hello, I intend to purchase ZBrush for designing jewelry or small decorative sculptures. Maybe do nice renderings for presentation and advertisement. My 3d file would be processed by a casting company who takes my 3d designs to real metal objects. I have never worked with 3d programs, yet. After doing some research, I decided to stick with ZBrush. I’m not in a hurry and would like to learn and work with ZBrush in the upcoming months.

What is your advice in concerns of Keyshot and the Bridge? Is it recommended to get it right from the beginning? Learn ZBrush with Keyshot as it’s an gorgeous added value? Or is it waste for my needs? Keyshot HD or Pro?

Thanks for your help!

Keyshot gives amazing renders easily and quickly and is used by a lot of jewellery people. The HD version will work fine and has unlimited render resolution. The pro version has animation, if you need it.

When you make a model in a 3d app you are working in a virtual representation of 3d reality. So zbrush creates this reality for you and has settings to control the environment that you are working in basically meaning the lighting around your object. The other element to this is a representation of a material that your object is made out of , wood, gold etc.

Some apps specialize in creating and allowing you to control these two things. You will get good results with the built in zbrush renderer but if you want to make 2d images of your model that look as real as possible and wan total control of the environment you will need keyshot.

when you get to the point that you want to use 2d images of your 3d models instead of photograps for marketing you most likely want to use a renderer. But basically I would say if you are just starting out you dont need it right away. But if the price is not a consideration and you like to play with software, and want to heighten the virtual aspect of things , you will enjoy the set up with the bridge, it makes it like part of the zbrush program, there is a whole list of feature comparisions between the pro version on the key shot web site.

Thank you very much! That helps to get a feel for Keyshot.

I think that I’ll get it right from the beginning. It sounds like ZBrush and Keyshot builds a wonderful unit with the bridge. So it could make sense to learn the usage with that set up. The possibility of using good renderings instead of photographs for marketing is a good point. And, actually I guess it’s more fun to work with 3d if I’ll be able to see my designs nicely rendered in the end.
