Looking for zbrush 3.1 mac os X demo

Hi there, im trying to download the zbrush 3.1 trial for mac os X, and i cant find it anyway :frowning:

Allways download a .exe .

Can someone help me plz

The Mac version of zBrush 3.1 is in Beta testing. It’s not available to the public yet.

thks a lot.

grown I just decided to check out pixologic’s site for the first time in a couple of months, if not longer. According to their website, it mentioned Z 3.1 for Mac Intel in the system requirements. (At this point, I falsely assumed the Mac version was finally released into the wild.) With my hopes up I wasted my time downloading the Windows version of the demo, later finding out what was already mentioned…

I know this is most likely a moot point and sounds pretty anal, but it would help, for those of us that don’t keep up day to day or month to month, for Pixologic to not tease us Mac users until it’s officially released. It’s like if I released an Album on CD and mention on my website that it’s also for download in MP3 format, eventhough I know it’s not ready, I haven’t made any ā€œofficialā€ announcements, and I haven’t posted a link for it in my online store.

Just a thought…

As a PC user, I’m having a great time watching you Mac users suffer!

There will be payback… the last mac version had more features than the PC version… Once it’s out… the PC community will be suffering muhahahaha
Rainer

I have to put up with those BS anti-PC Mac commercials. Isn’t that enough torture for us?

TJX you might as well just drink the cool-aid. Your PC is a mac clone, although a bad one. You know you want a mac; you just can’t give up your suffering.

Check out the growth in Apple market share. PCs are flat. Macs are growing.

Dude, I’m a PC GAMER as well as an aspiring digital artist. And you know as well as I do that when it comes to games, Macs are behind, way behind.

Folks, let’s not get into any ā€œMy OS is better than your OSā€ wars. Leave that for the commercials. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks.

Yes, lets leave this between nerdy working PC guy and jobless Mac slacker guy.

Lol, at my work place I have a quad mac on one side and a quad pc on the other… Right in between bananas float in mid air! I swear!
Rainer

I’m a nerdy working platform-agnostic guy.

I was a frustrated unemployed PC guy, but that didn’t pan out.

Turns out ā€œinflexibleā€ and ā€œcondescendingā€ don’t play well in interviews.

Just sayin’.

LOL! that is hilarious Lemonado!

lemonnado,

You win! I can’t stop laughing!!!

sigh I love those PC jerk-offs that try to be smarter by half… Too bad there isn’t an icon for the bird. Such is life…

Anywho, I’m still a 2D guy, so at this point in my life Zbrush is just an over-glorified toy and will continue to be until I can accomplish anything serious with it. So it’s no big deal if Z3 isn’t out for the Mac. For a very long time it was my assumption that Pixologic was quietly dropping its support for the Mac side. Once again, not big deal because Windows has always been dominant in the 3D market and Blender has been gaining a lot of Zbrush’s capabilities and then some for free on my Mac. I know Blender a lot better than Zbrush, so no big deal. None the less I was intrigued when I saw Mac was supported for Z3 in the system requirements. I should know know better than to get my hopes up over such things.

I agree with Ctrl-Z, flexibility is more important than a maintaining a superiority-complex over your favorite OS. That’s why I’ll have Vista, bugs and all loaded on my new Mac quad. I’ll even have X11 installed for my favorite *nix apps. Developing that type of flexibility helps, especially when looking for a job. As a former graphic designer I’ve received all types of wacky files (even from other ā€œprofessionalā€ firms that should know better) I’ve had wrestle with and convert just to make half-way decent and problem-free for the printer. I’ve even had to edit EPS files that went bad in BBEdit (a text editor) just to make them usable again. So it helps to be able to play on both sides of the fence and then some.

PC’s are becoming second class citizens when it comes to games. More titles are being released months ahead or exclusively for the consoles. :frowning:

I wasn’t going to say it, but I’m glad of that.

Both philosophically and as a pragmatic concern, I need my computer to be a dedicated work space. Whether I’m sculpting in 3D, writing music, making a spreadsheet, whatever, the last thing I need is the temptation and distraction of ā€œjust one more levelā€ hanging over me.

So when I read things like ā€œI’m a PC GAMER as well as an aspiring digital artistā€, my natural tendency is to write off their opinion, in the same way as if they’d said ā€œI’m an AMPHIBIAN as well as a mammal.ā€

(I don’t think it’s possible to evolve from one thing into the other without giving up that first part. But, what do I know?)

I wouldn’t mind maintaining a whole separate PC for only gaming, but it’d have to be in a different room (as my consoles are). That separation is crucial.

…for me, anyway. And for probably anyone you look up to as a professional. But you might be the exception.

See, unlike you rich Mac snobs, I can’t afford two computers! Also, both ZBrush(and other 3D programs) and PC games require decent video cards. So why not use the hardware you got in one machine for as many things as possible?

Let’s not forget also that all games are made on a PC. And the professionals I look up to are those in the gaming industry. And I’m pretty sure those games require ā€˜artists’ who happen to like playing games. So I really don’t get what you mean with not being able to be a gamer and an artist at the same time. You might as well be saying you can’t be an aspiring artist and a comic book fan at the same time.

Have you ever heard of PC game mods? These are PC games that have been converted by gamers with new enviroments, characters, vehicles, etc. created and designed by gamers. It’s one of the ways gamers hone their game developing skills if they want to work in the industry. Now it would be pretty inconvieniant if you would not be able to test your new game vehicle/weapon/level on the same machine don’t you think?

I really hope you’re not saying that ā€œgameā€ art isn’t real 3D art. Cause I think you would know better.

And one last thing, I would NOT mind at all using a MAC in a working enviroment. I’ve dealt with macs back in college. I just happen to prefer to working on a PC and that is what I have at home. Now, are you going to lynch me for using my right of free choice? I thought the whole Apple way of thinking was all about the freedom of choice, not bitching about the fact that someone supposedly made the ā€œwrongā€ choice.

Well I was only comparing game availability between macs and PCs. But since you mentioned this, most console exclusive games are the kind of games that would not be popular on the PC in the first place. I mean, do I mind missing out on WII games or endless Final Fantasy style games for the playstaion?? Hell no! Some titles are being released months ahead because developers want to either add new content or optimize the game for the best PC gaming rigs. There are also PC games that are released months ahead before they’re released on Consoles. Take the upcoming Age of Conan for example. It’s supposedlly going to be the biggest MMORPG and it’s not coming out for the 360 in another 6 months or so.
