Looking for advice on how to sculpt this.

Hi, have used the new ZB4 tools to model the lower half of this armour. Liking the new clip and mask tools a lot. Anyway, problem is I need to chamfer the edges on the lower bit, to be more like the one on the top (which was modelled in LW). I can find a good brush to cut into the raised bits to make them a little less pronounced, but cant find a good one to cut the sides at a slight angle. (I can do this with the armour unwraped and flat.

Any help would be appreciated. Armour.jpg

That might give you some ideas.

Planar Line Thin Brush will do the job!

Cheers, I should have been more specific. I didn’t really mean chamfer (which your answer is perfect for), I mean like shown in the attached image, but I want to do that will all the edges in a way that is controlable. With the planer line, it is really hit and miss to get the angle right.

Yeh cheers Andre, I had originally tried it that way. Problem is that all of these bits that I want to cut are at difficult to line up the way you have shown, so it’s really easy to have a cut that is off along the length of the cut. What would be ideal is a brush, like the planer line, but that you can have more control of the cut angle.

Ok the other way could be( i understand your point: i agree is dificult) that you make polygroups and the isolated the mesh you want to rework? just try it, hope this help:+1:

Think I’m just going to use retop, and then fix it in LW. Just thought there might be a planer cut that cuts independantly of the normla or something. Cheers for your help though.

did you saw this video?

That did it thanks. TrimFront was exactly what I was looking for.

Here are the results. Before on the left, after on the right. Still a little bit of tidying to do.
