Local transformation in Zbrush 3.5

Hey guys, having problems with the Local transformation. In zbrush 3.1 I used to be able to sculpt in one area of a mesh and then have the camera use the pivot of that area to rotate around the mesh. The new local transformation tool doesn’t seem to do that. It doesn’t use the pivot of the sculpted area. Any ideas how to get the same effect in 3.5?

Thanks

Are you using right mouse button to rotate? The local switch works as before but when using right mouse button over the model it will rotate around that point. Rotate by clicking outside of the model and it should work as before.

It works. It’s on by deafult in 3.5 . But also keeps in mind, it pivots around the point where the lasts stroke was initiated, not terminated. So if you, for instance, use the move brush to pull out a long spike, it will pivot around the base of that spike, not the tip.

Thanks for the replies guys… Oops, I forgot to mention that I was mainly talking about when I’m retopologizing. when I created my points in 3.1, zbrush would center itself around that point. 3.5 doesn’t seem to do that…

Yes, being specific would have been helpful.

You do seem correct though. Local Transformations doesn’t seem to work in topology mode in 3.5

Yep, and it’s a huge pain in the ass to retopo anything without having local transformation. I hope they address this problem soon.

Just FYI, “align to object” under draw fixes this problem.

I have actually not found this to be the case for me.

Local transformations does work when retopo-ing…just kind of sporadically. What Does make it work (for me), it to use the move tool, and just move a point a little bit. That recenters the pivot. The “draw” tool does not seem to.
