Hello Zbrush community,
These are some Zbrush screen caps of a Lobo figure I started two weeks ago.
I Have spent my life working as a traditional sculptor for the toy industry. Mcfarlane toys ,Neca and Gentle Giant just to name a few. I absolutely hated all things digital until my buddy Dave Igo turned me on to Zbrush 3. Wiith that program and allot of teaching from my other friend Stefano dubay, A digital master I am finding that I reallly love the process and hope to be employed in the video game or film industry. I still have alot to learn but I figure I should share some of what I’m up to. Thanks for checking out my post and I welcome all comments,
Dan
Ps I have other work that I will post very soon…
here is some of my earlier works. included are a dragon and a catperson

wow. not that your digital skills arent pretty good, but once you translate all of your traditional skill, you will be making some amazinggg work! keep it up:)
Your traditional work rocks, man. Keep at it in ZBrush and you’ll be top row material in no time.
Yeah, very nice transition!
And once all your traditional skills are converted into ZBrush skills…
Oh yeah, you will rock for sure!
here u go Dan u see, you are making it, little time and I’ll work for you, ha
Dragon
ur traditional sculps are amazing, and i see that ur skills are getting better between ur early works and the last one. will have top row work coming soon enough
Some good stuff! I especially love your Hulk, and Rhino traditional sculpts. Look forward to seeing more of your ZBrush work.
Hey man, great sculpts you have. That rhino traditional csulpt you made blew my mind. Would love to see that in 3d.
I really enjoyed the sculptures escpecially the Rhino. I always wanted to do one in 3D but had no direction on how I wanted to look.
Amazing job on them.
Amazing artwork man. Great skills
Ah…Lobo. Great work like everyone has stated. I really like the Simon Bisley look for the Lobo character. The extremely vascular (veiny) overly ripped comic images are my favorite.
Your traditional models are wicked, and I can’t wait to see more digital models and your transition into zBrush!
Thanks so much for the nice words. I forgot to add that aside from Zbrush I also use MAYA to make the figs, and I spelled my friend Stefano Dubay’s name incorrectly. I like the Idea of using that Rhino for a digital project, Maybe for Dom War.
Nice sculpts!
Great traditional stuff Dan, I own both of those Conan series figures and the dragon. Is McFarlane switching to digital now? Zbrush is daunting at first but you’ll get the hang of it in no time…buy every Zbrush related Gnomon dvd you can get your hands on, good luck man!
thanks Jason
I think your digital stuff is really excelent. I dont know what MCfarlane is up to now. I don’t really keep in contact with them anymore but I know they use allot of scans
