Hiya guys. Im a new user to zbrush and am currently trying to work my way through the intro to zbrush book bye eric keller. Anyways, one of the first things i have to do is either draw on a 3d plane or import an image into zbrush for a reference backround. Problem im having is that when i try to import a file zbrush says it cant read anything except a jpeg version of the file ive made. The other file types are soposed to be supported bye what the book says but zbrush dosnt like the files apparently. Im using autodesk sketchpad to make my 2d images atm. It works for jpegs but its bothering me that the other file types dont seem to be working. Thanks for any help. Later guys
sounds like a problem with sketchup.
I don’t have any problem bringing in a .psd or .tif
hmm, wish i had another program to try this on and see if sketchpad is to blame.
Perhaps the problem is with the age of the book, perhaps changes to the way Zbrush handles Planes in 3.5 vs 3.1?
Im torn myself which books to buy these days…
dont think its the books fault atm as zbrush wont read the non jpeg files for a normal document background import either. Might be sketchbook. I used to use a program called paintshop pro a long time ago for this stuff when i was playing around with digital drawing in school but it seems its no longer around. Was a nice alternative to the much more expensive photoshop. Figure Sketchbook would be good comming from Autodesk. Seems ok, no matter what i do ill have to re learn everything as i havnt played with this stuff for many years lol but idk. I just dont want to/cant go and spend another 600 bucks just for a program to draw/edit 2d images with heh.
I just tried making a background in mspaint just to see what would happen and zbrush will also not load tifs/bmps made with paint but it will load jpg from it. Seems like a problem with zbrush or maybe there are some rules governing the other file types that i dont know about thats keeping zbrush from loading them. Idk…kinda bugging me.
ya know try gimp for the editing. GIMP is open source (free), and every bit as good as Photoshop. tons of tutorials out there for it. I use it at times when PSE cant do what i want.
ill have to check it out. Does it work pretty well if i just want to stop and draw something with it or is it more for editing a pre existing image? Work well with graphics tablets?
seems that gimp is working better. Tiffs still wont show up but if i save as bmp or psd they work this time. Only weird thing is white seems to come up as pink in zbrush. Is this normal?
