Little Tree Lizard

Hey everyone!

We had to sculpt a lizard(-like) creature for my Zbrush class this week. I wanted t to be a weird (and cute) little lizard. It ended up being a mixture of a whole bunch of lizards, it has features of an Iguana, a chameleon and even a salamander.

Overall, it’s completely fictional, but I wish it were real :stuck_out_tongue: lol
I just want to squish its stomach…

Let me know what you think!

Hi Ralph! I think he’s funny! His head/face doesn’t seem to work in front view though (maybe it was not meant to be anyway). The tail might look a bit too dino like. Keep in mind that these are remarks coming from someone who never even sculpted an animal, or lizard … :o ! :+1: !

very nice model man :):) waiting for more updates

Hey Etcher!

You’re definitely right about parts of his face/body not making sense :stuck_out_tongue: I kind of unintentionally sculpted that, but ended up liking it…lol

Think of it as a creature similar to the dodo or platypus, just a weird animal that makes no sense whatsoever. I might change that tail though, you are definitely right about it being too thick and dino-like

As always, thanks very much for the advice!!!

Why thank you very much!

this is cool could i see some base mesh and some wires etc, would be nice to see how its put together

amazing  cool model :+1:

Thank you very much! The entire model is comprised of Zspheres, I will post some pictures of the basemesh asap

Thank you!

heh funny I like it :+1:

ha
awesome sculpt :+1:

wow, that turned out great. I have a friend who has one of those and they are awesome.

Thank you

Thanks Dave

These things actually exist? lol

I know what you mean though :stuck_out_tongue: I doubt it looks as disproportionate at this little fellow :stuck_out_tongue:

Thank you very much btw!

Very Cool!
I like it! :+1:

Thank you kindly! I think I might re-pose him so that he’s hanging from the branch by his tongue for an extra dramatic effect :stuck_out_tongue: lol

Haha… that´s great! Weird and cute.
Cool little fella!
I´m looking forward to the promised WIP pics.
And I´d love to see the “extra dramatical-tongue -pose”.
Altough I really like the way he´s hanging around right now. :+1:

Thank you!

Here’s a shot of the basemesh (and the Z-sphere chain used to create it) with the reference drawing I made:

I’m not sure if I’ll get a chance to retopo him (as I pretty much intended for him to stay a basic Zculpture :stuck_out_tongue: ) and render him in MAX at this point. I do want to though, I have a feeling he would look pretty sweet with an SSS Fast skin shader

Thanks for the WIPs!
With these multicolored Polygroups he looks like a chameleon. Hihi

lol! I didn’t see that until you pointed that out :stuck_out_tongue:

Looking at his wires, I really want to clean him up and animate him :S Maybe next semester…lol

Most of the topology issues you pointed out can be quickly resolved with SmartResym, then lightly going over any pinched areas with the smooth brush to relax them at the lowest subdivision level. Then when dial your subD back up, things should look much better. Make sure you have XSym turned on when you’re doing all of this though.

Thank you very much for the pointer! I will make sure to try that!

I love it. my only advice is to get some hi res pics of chameleon scales and make some alpha stamps. then go buck wild. It shouldn’t take too long and the final result will be awesome. Again great stuff,
