Does anyone know how to create a paint map (texture), normal map and deformation map in Zbrush 4 from an imported OBJ from Lightwave and then get the ZBrush OBJ and maps back into lightwave and apply them in Lightwave? I’m new at this and need detailed step by step instructions. Thanks to anyone willing to try.
I’ll try to explain you briefly. I’ll suppose you know how to use Zbrush to create a texture and displacement/normal map. If not, there is a lot of tuts and answer in this forum.
I suppose your Obj has UV (generated in LW before imported the Obj in Zbrush, or created in Zbrush)
When finish your work in Zbrush, export your map (Texture, displacement and/or Normal) don’t forget to “FlipV” each of these, to conform to LW standart.
Then althought not necessary if your UV where from LW, I recommand export the OBj at level 1 in Zbrush : it will be the new base mesh in LW that you will use (replacing the original LW object).
Load it in Layout and follow this video for the displacement :
ftp://ftp.newtek.com/products/LightWave/Trial/Videos/zbrush-nodes-aps.mov
Use the texture and normal map from sthe surface node editor as usual.
I know that this is not a very detailled tuts, but I have not a lot of time to write one.
It will give you a brief overview and you can point all that you know and all that you have to learn.
If you have some specific question, I’ll try to answer.
Althought there is not GoZ for LW, LW and Zbrush work pretty well together.
Sorry for my poor english and hope it help you.
