Lights don't cast shadow

Hi guys!,

First of all I’d let you know that, it’s my first time trying to render something in zbrush.

I’m trying to render a project with many subtools, I’ve got 3 lights set, one from above(the only one casting shadow), one in front, and the last one from the bottom right.

I want to cast shadows from the below light but I’ve tried everything and I can’t get it. I’ve set muy lights with lightcap, shadow value to 100 in all of them. When I modify settings in the BPR shadow only makes changes to the light from above.

I’ve read that the lights below the horizon are all set to 0 and when you set many lights not all of them cast shadow due to zbrushes render.

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks!

MatCap materials do not use the Light palette’s lights. They use a light map that is in the material’s modifiers. In other words, the lighting is baked into them. The setting that you’re changing affects the intensity of the shadows generated by that built-in lighting. It has no impact on shadows from the Light palette.

If you want to use the Light palette, you need to use one of that standard (non-MatCap) materials.

In short, MatCap is a way to instantly get a good render without having to set the lights up yourself. BUT it also means that when you do actually want to go that route you need to use a different material.

thanks mate! I kind of managed to get it, with the light non-lightcap one. Thanks for your help again!!
