Lightbox always loads on startup (answered)

4R4 release 2 - It doesn’t matter what I do. Lightbox insists on loading on startup. The “open at launch” button is toggled off. I’ve tried every combination of turning it on & off, loading closing & loading Zbrush again at every step. Is there some secret special config file to save?

You need to store the configuration (Shift+Ctrl+i) for the setting to be remembered.

Thanks for responding, Marcus. Sometimes it seems that it’ll save the state of the button (it varies between toggled on & off) but that never actually changes whether or not Lightbox loads. I was hoping I was just doing something boneheaded like that. :confused:

It does not matter what I do, Lightbox always opens on startup. I turn off “open at launch”, store the config, restart and it is still there. There must be some config file setting somewhere which is overriding my saved config file. Not a huge deal, but rather a “small annoying thing”.

Did I completely make up in my head that I got an email saying 4R4b had been released? I even remember reading that switching off lightbox at startup was one of the fixes.

Just an update on this. instaled update 2, switched off Lightbox at startup, stored config, and it works fine. Windows version here.

Not sure why it’s “special” for me. :wink: Using Windows 7 - the lightbox suppression toggle ignores my best efforts.

You are running ZBrush 4R4 P2? Your not running a script at startup by any chance are you? Check your ZBrush 4R4/ZScripts/DefaultZScript.txt file and make sure the following line is not in it.

[If,1,[IPress,Preferences:Lightbox:Lightbox]] If it is, then remove it and save the file.

Also, if you have the _UIStarter_Z4R2_V1.zsc plugin in your ZStartup/ZPlugs folder then remove that also because it is no longer necessary with version 4R4 P2.

Nothing in Zplugs but the default stuff, I assume (didn’t see a UIStarter plugin). When I installed R4, I did a fresh install, so it should all be stock.

Dangit, I didn’t see notification of your reply this time, Marcus. Sorry for the delay.

As it turns out, I started with the fun Windows tricks - the fix? I changed the (win7) owner of the 4R4 directory to my current user (took ownership), THEN changed the setting and saved config.
