I think you didn’t alter him enough to change his name. He’s almost exactly the same except for the mma like gloves. Its really well done though. If you used him for a portfolio I would definitely call him Ryu and it fan art. Granted SNK (playmoore now perhaps?) totally stole his design as well, but they probably can get away with it.

@ Womball - I am glad if you find him carrying the same attitude and likeliness as Ryu does. Actually I did not go for any of his particular look, since it varies a lot in every version, I just tried to capture his overall attitude… I am a great great fan of SF Ryu and this is also inspired by the same, so you can definitely call it a fan art
