Leehand Sketchbook

So, first post in my sketchbook…

The base concept is from Paul Bonner, an amazing artist!!!
www.paulbonner.net/

I just try to have fun with it and translate his drawing…Don’ t want to keep it as a constrain…just have fun

So for now, I’ ve begun to work on the body shapes and gesture and made a low def armor. A lot of tweak to do!!!

C&C are welcome!!

Wow, great job so far! It’s hard to do a literal translation of 2D into 3D but you’re really nailing it – yes I’m VERY familiar with the image.

I like your musculature better than the Bonner image which is a bit ambiguous – really nice job here! I do prefer the oversized left-arm armor in the Bonner image but as you said you’re just having fun!

You going to be adding any more of the image or just the sewer beast?

thank you so much jbuck,
Indeed it was hard to translate the drawing because proportions are oversize!!!
Specialy the left arm as you said…I told me you have to give him more muscles…and once I do it…I look at it and…damn!! he needs more muscles!!!…will see.
Now, I will try to have credible muscles shapes…a lot of work!

To answer your question, I haven’ t planed to sculpt the whole picture.
I will probably try to find something quicker to present him. ( I hope mister Bonner will forgive me ;))

Hi Leehand! I’m already lookin’ forward to following your progress with this one, cause you did an awesome job on the HB2 character! :+1: !

Wow

Really impressive ! I WILL DO the environment ( if you aren’t in a hurry :stuck_out_tongue: ), but please do the legs of this character and the little monster which should be next to him  !

Etcher : thank you man! Your anatomy thread is really interesting, good work!!

toinedek : OK pal the environment is for you!! But you got a cool picture to finish first…It would be fun to post a wip so…

Time for update : I worked on shapes and began to detail skin, teeth, armor, horn…I’ ve got some work on the hands but later…hope you like it…C&C are welcome:D

Absolutely excellent, especially the face/head. The muscle definition came out really well and you can’t do Paul Bonner without it.

I’m wondering if the amount of elephant skin/leathery skin type wrinkles on the flexed muscles isn’t a bit much? Perhaps the skin would be less wrinkled where it is stretched tight over a bulging muscle. The skin texture overall is good though and should texture beautifully.

Face is looking good Leehand - GJ :D:+1:

lovley work

Hi Leehand!

the details are really great! I will finish my current work and then I will begin this environment with pleasure !!

Grt detailing and nice posing …keep it coming

Hi Mr Lee !!

I finnally find the way to register, just to Congrats you, it’s really impressive !!
You seam to be an expert in sharks !!

continue the good work, I’d like to see more of your stuff here.

Hi, everybody!!!
At last, after several internet problems in my new home,
and some hard days at work…I find some time to finish
my “Paul Bonner like” creature and post it.
But first, : sorry to answer so late, as i said, I’ ve got no internet for long time.

KillahPriest : I know that people subdivide their mesh the most they can and sculpt it as if it is clay but, on my own, I prefere to keep my mesh level the lower it is possible to refine shape level after level in order to get it clean and smooth... NELLL : Hey man!! thank you the words!! and congrates for your new job! I hope you will post soon to share your art man!!! Nanouk: Hello miss! I glad you find the way to the forum . I'm happy to see you here. So now, the Paul Bonner time!!!:D I textured it in Zbrush with a little of photoshop to take advantage of layers ^^. The render is done in mental ray with multi displacement (for better resolution and close up) and bump for the high frequency...I split the misss fast skin in framebuffer to tweak it in nuke. Hope you like it!!! [![PBthumbnail.jpg|561x561](upload://A9sMWHIKLAXgvvCxAJteETShw4F.jpeg)]![compFumee.jpg|1158x758](upload://wxHKBQd8IxZFQmqfGUbxH5CWJh2.jpeg)
