Leather glove.

Hey guys, ive been away from the scene for a while, what with our family growing larger due to the arrival of twins may last year. I’ve always been interested in pc gaming and wanted to try some high poly work towards a low poly game character.
I knocked up a simple hand model and sculpted it in zbrush. I wuold love to hear some constructive comments on how a sculpt like this can be improved for added realism. I understand this is far from the quality that I see on these forums, and damn, seeimg them almost made me ashamed of my work, its easy to get intimidated on here with alot of the work i see. But it would be really interesting to hear from you all.
Thanks so much

attached is also a simple turntable render, it loses quality here but the jpeg shows it a little better.

I wuold love to hear some constructive comments on how a sculpt like this can be improved for added realism.

My first thought is to use some photo reference of the actual object, or the object itself, if possible. Some examples:

But for the sculpt at hand (pardon the pun): The wrist portion seems a little thin for the thickness of the fingers. I’m not sure if the gloves are meant to be used for cold weather or not, but the wrist thickness should be comparable to the amount in the fingers. If the glove is meant to be more like driving gloves, or thin, supple leather, the fingers need to be much thinner.

Also, the folds along the wrist seem a little tight for leather. Make them a little looser and a little fatter. The creases in the finger joints will likely see more flexing than the wrist, so give more attention to them.

I’d say you’ve made the classic zbrush mistake – doing fine detail without first nailing down the primary forms.

That’s the best piece of advice I can give you – you can use the most perfect leather and stitching alphas, you can make wonderful folds in the wrist, but it will all be for nothing if the hand itself looks wrong.

So get some hand/glove reference, put them into spotlight and resculpt until the primary shapes look right!
