Looks amazing. I think I still would use my wacom pen for most things but this would be great to add touch style controls to the Cintiq for Zoom rotate etc.
Preordered mine some days ago.
It is said that it was originally developed for 3D modeling.
Without pressure sensitivity (How?) it won’t be too useful, but the idea is too cool.
It is looking too promising.
But sculptris is not too bad to be used with just a 3 button mouse due to it’s easy navigation system. What could be done with ten fingers?
0,001 mm precision?
It can scan the hands, not much more. ( or whatever is in the ~200? Liter space)
We will see.
But it if it’s not this machine than there will be others in the near future
I was thinking one had could be designated as a navigation tool, and the other a sculpt brush or brushes. Pressure would be based on true depth in relation to the model. Just like in clay, how much you push/pull the surface dictates its form.
Seeing those demovideos it looks more like this typical somehow already boring nice but unprecise iphone / ipad window wiping. Or that even worther kinect hopping before tv’s (which is great fun, of course)
But Leap Motions seems to even recognize the angle of every finger or whatever pointing device you are using.
You could use your finger but also your palm or pencil or sculpting tool.
I am really looking forward to play with it.
Even though I am not convinced about a 12 hours working day having your arms all the time in the air
Hopefully some software developers will produce something serious to use it with.
