Layers not available

Hi everyone,

I have a mesh I have been working on, at a certain point I had some layers that I commited to the mesh by deleting them in the layers menu. Now I would like to add a layer for changes to the mesh, but the new button is grayed out at every subdivision level. Is there a way to add layers to my mesh? Have I made a mistake in my workflow?

Thanks for any info!

Todd

try exporting out the HP mesh and importing it.
reconstruct the subD levels and see if you can create new layers on that mesh.

Hey goast666!

I just tried what you said, was able to do the export, import, and reconstruct, still no layers though

Thanks for the info, any other ideas?

try a makepolymesh3d and reconstruct.
you don’t have any of the model hidden do you?
sometimes cloning will help too.

thanks Spaceboy, cloning worked!

Much appreciated guys!

Todd

Thank you, I had the same problem.
The layer options were gone for some reason and there was definitely no layer left in any of the subdivisions.
Strange enough the 5th layer was somehow highlighted (the borders of the button were brighter then the others) inside the layers options menu - but everything was “greyed out” and unusable.

To make a long story short:
Cloning the subtool at the highest sub-d level and reconstructing the lower sub-divisions solved the error - the layers options menu is now responsive again.
