Layers Merging after Reload

This is driving me crazy. I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong or it’s a bug…

  1. I have a project with two layers (the layer menu along the top not below the subtool on the right). In the bottom layer, I have a reference image. In the top I have my model.

  2. Everything works fine until I save/close and reopen Zbrush. When I do this, my model has gone on to the first layer where the background image is. It can be modelled in edit mode, but not rotated etc.

Any solutions? Thanks.

That’s interesting, thank you. You’re not doing anything wrong - I can confirm I can reproduce this behaviour.

EDIT: If you tried the method I gave before this edit then it doesn’t work - apologies.

You will need to set up your project so that the model is on Layer 1 and the background image is on Layer 2. Then when you save and reload the project all will be well. You can adjust the project like this:

  1. Turn off Edit mode (press ‘T’ on the keyboard).
  2. Press ‘Undo’ in the Edit palette once. This will remove your model from the scene but leave the background.
  3. Press the >> (Move Layer Down) button in the Layer palette. This will swap the layers so that the background layer becomes Layer 2.
  4. Click on Layer 1 to select it, redraw your model and press Edit (‘T’) to enter Edit mode.

HTH,

Thanks Marcus if for nothing else confirming I’m not going mad.

I trust you have the communication channels to let those in authority know about this oddity.
