I have zbrush using the dark menu system. The layer icons are very hard to tell if they are set to remain visible. Just the background color behind the text changes to a slightly darker shade of grey…very hard to even notice…would like to change it to something more appropriate for an active icon…a color and/or brighter.
Played with all of the preference colors and none of them seem to affect this background color on these layer icon buttons.

The line that goes around the selected Layer is the Hilite color (the bottom outlined color in my pic). Depending on which Layers you are talking about (document Layers in the Layer palette or 3D Layers in the Tool palette), the text is one of Icn3 or Icn4 outlined at the top of my pic.
The background color for 3D Layers is Subpalette1 (on the left, 4 lines above Hilite). For document Layers it is Icn2, to the left of Icn3.
