Laurie's sketchbook

Hey Tonare

Thanks for the feedback. I see what you mean about that fur.

Cheers.

Another concept sculpt, gave myself about 2.5 hours from a Dynamesh sphere start to see what I came up with.

Trying to get faster.

C &C always welcome.

Wow, lots of great sculpts and I really dig the thumbnail process on your last set. I should try that sometime.

Love the demon dog thing too!

Hey FatherO,

Thanks for the positive vibes on my work.

Much appreciated.

Cheers.

Just messing around.

Beginning of something…maybe.

C & C would be really appreciated.

Cheers

Hey man, I like it its coming out nice, but just a little tip. It looks like your rendering with not a huge amount of polypoints, so your getting that faciting so the surface doesn’t look smooth, so just for the purpose of improving render quality when you go into the render palette turn on smooth normals and when you do a BPR the model doesn’t have that unsmooth look. Maybe you knew all that all ready, but just incase you didn’t! nice job!

Hey jchave49

Thanks for the tip. I did’nt know about that.

I’ll re render them.

Thanks again.

Just a quick re-render and some minor work on this concept.

Thanks for that tip about the smooth normals jchave49, makes things look a lot smoother.

Not so sure about this concept. Struggling with moving it forward.

It looks good!

I didn’t know about that tip either. Nice!

Good work Laurie, looks cool.

The catfish whiskers just need to be blended in. The design is interesting, have you given any thought to the culture this creature comes from? That could add a new dimension to the character.

Sean

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I really do appreciate it.

sean_rodrigues: You are right about the whiskers, and I like the idea of the culture this creature comes from. I will give it some thought. Thanks.

Your welcome. If I may suggest a couple more things, I see the creature black with blue specular highlights like a black jaguar in the moon light. I see its cultural clothing to be a colorful palette that would frame its black coloring.

Sean

Hey Sean.
That’s a great take on this concept. I can see where you are coming from. Just checked out you armored horse. It looks awesome. Congrats. You armor has inspired me.
Thanks for your input.

Adapted my last sketch a bit further.

C & C welcomed.

can he get any more off balance?;D you need to fix that

This is a good design. Slocik, might have a point about the character being off balance. But, it is an easy fix. Arch his back back. I like the muscle details, with that said the mass that makes up the shin looks a bit under developed compared to the rest of his body. Look at the proportion of a satyre and imagine a muscular version of that design. Or, the clothing might hide the shins, its up to you. Does he have a tail?

Your doing great,

Sean

I know what you mean about his balance guys.

He does have a tail to help off set some of the balance issue and I see what you mean about the under developed shins.

Thanks so much for the constructive critique guys.

It helps so much.
