Lasso won't select all way I draw, smoothes curve

Hello! I’m trying to select mask via Lasso but it smoothes curve for no reason. You could clearly see it on GIF!
Lasso

Hello @mgn_nikey,

This is a normal result for the Masking Lasso. You can sharpen the edge of the mask with Tool> Masking> Sharpen Mask.

Ultimately, the quality of the masking is dependent on the underlying topology. Higher mesh resolutions with cleaner topology and well shaped (square) polygons will produce the cleanest masking. Masking up to a shared topological edge will also produce cleaner masking than masking across polygons that don’t share a common edge border.

If your meaning is something else, please elaborate a bit further.

Thank You! :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello! Sorry It’s about how i draw mask and how it masks actually. You could see trajectory of my brush and then how mask turned out, that’s the problem. My brush goes out of mesh but mask is only half way.

I see what you mean now. I can’t immediately re-create this scenario.

Does this happen with any tool you try to work with, or only this specific tool? Try loading a default tool from Lightbox in a new ZBrush session without any previous files loaded.

Are you using a Tablet? If so, try this using a mouse instead.

Tried mouse and new mesh. Yeah it happens only with tablet.

Ok, thanks. I am now able to infrequently recreate your issue with at least one of my tablets. I’ll need to study this, but off the top of my head it seems like something that might be related to a tilt-sensitivity feature or general input lag. I only get the issue if I make a very quick stroke with the mask lasso. When I slow the stroke down significantly it performs as expected.

So try making slower strokes for the time being, and I will add this to the issues I’m looking at.

Thank You! :slightly_smiling_face:

Any news? This is happening to me too. With the SelectLasso and MaskLasso. And the DamStandard don’t feel like before, it feels like the same problem of the Lassos.

Nothing… Fells like lag, so only way to fix this is use less polygons. May be it’s some CPU problem happening in some cases idk :C

It lags even when I am editing a simple sphere.
