Lasso/Rectangle-Symmetry Masking not possible ?

Is there a way to get the Symmetry work with the Rectangle/Lasso Selection?
When I´m masking one side with activated symmetry, it works as long as I´m using the brushes for selecting polygons.
It stops working when using Lasso/Rectangle Selection.

I can work around this by only working on one side and then using smart resym. No easier way to do this?

Symmetrical selections are not possible at this time. Your workaround is the best approach.
