Large .ZTL size, failed to load

:rolleyes:Last time that i saved my ztool the size increase from 2.1 Gig to 4.1 and i can not load it anymore . each time i try i get this error:Error has been encountered while trying to load a Tool. Loading has been aborted.

I saved my tool as lowest subdiv level.I have around 60 subtoolMy system Info:

Ram 12Gig
win 7 64Bit
Zbrush ver: 4R2

I’ve just run into the exact same problem, and was about to ask a similar question. System stats and the filesize problems are about the same, the only addendum I can add is that in my save sequence the first jump to the large file size occured just prior to a crash; the saved files went from 1.5 gigs to 4.1 (after which I had a crash), the recovery file was 2 gigs, and the next 8 saves were all 4.1 gigs. Is there a recovery option availible?; files can be provided to support if needed.

Edit; as a followup, in working at recreating the work lost I’ve noticed that getting rid of a lot of the layers I was using did resolve the problem (in this instance) of the file size exploding. I don’t know if that’s the cause, but the filesize has remained fairly consistant at about 1 gig with one to two layers per subtool.

I’ve been running into the same problem. I guess it’s a bug. I really would like to use layers, but there always seems to be an issue with them. :td:

yeah, Unfortunately, layers are main cause, and we can not keep them always.

I think its related to using morph targets + layers. I have a file that ends up corrupted if it’s saved with a morph target. Deleting the morph target before saving fixes the problem.
