Alright, that’s really ambitious, and I can see that you’re off to a wonderful start already, with a basemesh that is quite recognisable.

Since I might be pretty early here I’ll ask one of the obvious questions. What software and techniques did you use to create the basemesh? The two easiest ways I know of to wrap a vine around something would be a renderable spline in 3dsmax or zspheres in zbrush. So how did you actually do it, and how did you pose your base figures?

Nice choice of subject, by the way. That’s probably one of the most geometrically complex and dynamic works of sculpture in all of western culture, and if you’re the first to tackle it in 3D digital media, well, hats off to you. That rocks. There may be no better portfolio piece.

Great choice, looking forward to this. Good luck

Not sure if you realized it or not- but this sculpture is in the Vatican, not the Louvre. That’d suck if you put in a ton of work and got disqualified on a technicality :frowning:

@ Wildsketch…thank you !..so its great to sculpt it!
@ JohnnyRaptor…thank you !
@ eldee.s…thank you !..yes i realized that…anyway…I like to sculpt it…

keep up the sculpting, looking forward to the finished piece

Cool…you are a very ambitios individual…I am looking forward to seeing this piece come together, as well as your process steps. Recreating a classical sculpture is on my list of things to do and getting closer to the top of the list, so I will eagerly be watching this thread. Looks like you are off to a great start and making good progress! Keep it up!
