Labikette's sketchbook.

Hi everyone ! So much time i see all these nices threads and works from all of you, in the silence, and admirating all the works everyday. Maybe it’s time for me to participate a little, with modesty. Majority of my works will be in wip and i do not hope to be top raw (maybe one day, who know? ), but i surely have a lot to learn from all of you and any advices will be welcome.
For a brief presentation, i’m a cg french artist, worked inthe industry since maybe 7 years now for films and adds, and i experience zbrush only at home in my free time, still does not have the opportunity to improve my zbrush skills at job.
Like many of us here i think, it’s hard to manage job and personnal work, so, maybe this thread will motivate me as much as possible to practice more and more and help me to “finish” the duty !
Stop talking, let’s post some pics !
All feedbacks are welcome.

FF XIV fanart
As a big mmo player, i played recently to the ffXIV game and decided to do a fanart of the fire king monster : Ifrit.
Did the sculpt on a large periode but with very small sessions, been a little borred at the end but decided to clean it as much as possible.

The last two renders were done in Maya with Arnold and composited in Nuke with a little bit of Ps. Pretty happy of the sculpt even if some details miss, there is a moment, you just want to finish. But still have some problems to get the sculpt out well from zbrush and find the nice parameters on the displacement map.
I’m done for my first post here, i will continue this thread soon i think ! See you, and thanks for reading =)

By looking the video, i had a liitle pain on the begginning and surely do it diferently if i had to redo it (!), with a more human face shape and not a sphere :stuck_out_tongue:
Stop talking, i let you with the pics and the video!

Ps: if someone can explain me how the “limit” allowed by pictures work (for the upload i mean)? It’s a limit of size or dimension ?

Very nice mask!
Can you share with us material and render setup for this image below?

For sure fishinthewater.
I made the render with Arnold. Did the opportunity the few lasr months to work with it and i love it, maybe more than Vray now ! A little slow for transparency, but for the rest, Arnols is pretty awesome.
The scene was made as the traditionnal way : 3 lights setup + hdmi dome light.
The shader is the arnold sss tweaked a bit, and i play with the speculars in Nuke (can be done surely in photoshop, just easier in nuke with the multi pass rendering).

You can find the shader here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/kpxqkm
Or take the params bellow:

Thanks labikette for sharing the setup. I’m also arnold user so I’ll try your setup with my models.
Love the shader color and your render result. : )

Sculpt of the day(s), just a female bust. Trying to do some faces as fast as possible, this one is still a wip and will rest (the ears …), i preffer to start a new one from scratch and improves skills.
See you.

all renders are done in zbrush, just composited a bit in Photoshop.
