Koyazzman's sketchbook ( Conan and the beast )

Hello everyone!

I have been checking ZBC for more then a year, and have been sculpting in ZBrush last six months, so I consider myself a ZJunkie now :) . I have been posting some works here earlier, now starting thread for all future sculpts. Before I get to the point, just wanted to thank ZBC community for countless advices and great inspiration. I'm starting with the WIP: Conan. I dug up some old comics, and have found awesome illustration by Mike Docherty and Fraja Bator. Idea is to recreate complete scene, and by now, I finished 90% of modeling, still missing dying beast, ground, and the finishing details on the attacking beast. With polypainting and lighting, I hope it'll look awesome. Reason why I'm not posting finished work is because I'm afraid I will not have much spear time

in the next couple of weeks, so really don’t know when will I finish this. Until then:

thanks for checking out, C&C more then welcome Milosh

Really love that pose man. Awesome start on your thread. How did you do the hoels on the wings of your flying creature?

vshen:yeah, the holes can be tricky when you need the thickness like in my case.
I’ve done them in 3dsmax, closing the space between two sides of the hole, but I’m pretty sure you can do all that in zbrush by these steps:
1. make lowest SDiv of geometry, with no thickness
2. give mesh thickness in a subtool palette
3. delete few polygons where the holes should be
4. edge loop one side of the opening
5. pull new points as close as possible to the points on the other side of the hole (pinch brush will help to match perfectly)
6.export your model, and import same model with these import settings: weld=0.1
This technique was explained by goldo_O in his action hero thread
here is lowest SDiv

hope it’ll help

Excellent work , some minor correction with the pose(specially the fingers) would make this art perfect . :+1:

yeah, mabey the legs, fingers seems fine to me

Ya I agree with everyone so far, really nice work. I’m a sucker for Conan stuff anyway. I hope they re-open that franchise and do some more movies.
