I append and import subtools into what I am working on, but the moment I import another one the first imported subtool disappears. Should I be doing something to it to keep it in my subtool directory?
I use Subtool Master’s Multi Append to import and append meshes at the same time. Works like a charm.
Whenever you import a model it gets converted to ZBrush’s internal scaling system. When you import a mesh while another mesh is already selected, ZBrush will replace the original while also using the original’s scaling information. This is meant to aid with the import of multi-part objects because it ensures that the pieces will fit together.
If you don’t care about the new piece being accurate relative to the current one, just select the PolyMesh3D Tool (the star) before importing or any non-mesh Tool.
If you do care about the new piece being accurate relative to the current one, clone the current one before you import. Or use SubTool Master to import all of your pieces at once and automatically set them up as SubTools.
subtool master? thanks guys, I think I will have to look this up.
Aurick, is there a reason GoZ doesn’t apply Zbrush’s internal scaling system? Just wondering.
And as I understand the topic. if I import a sub tool w( append) while I am in the subtool pallet then it will delete the subtool I have selected? There is no way to bring the subtool in without losing others? You have to have something selected while in the subtool pallet. IT does not allow you select nothing. So what is the proper way of getting things into the subtool pallet?
Another thought… I guess I was under the impression that zbrush pulled the plugins into the program in the latest version.
