Nicely done. Two questions: Can we see more views? And does his ear really look like that (everything else is so dead on, I have to assume the ear is correct, but it looks strange compared to a standard ear). Over all- great.

Having looked at quite a few ears myself, Id have to say those are fairly standard ears. BUT I am not an anatomical expert, and I would guess that many members of this forum are, so take what I saw with a grain of salt.
The pics above appear to be straight-on shots with no perspective (I dont know the correct term for that). When you look with your eyes at a person’s face that close, you are seeing it in perspective, which is a totally different view than what you would get if you were a mile off looking through a powerful telescope… or through a simple “front view” in a typical 3d app such as MAX.
Excuse my rambling, btw… I should have gone to bed a long time ago 
Hey- thank you for replying to my questions. To clarify- the tops of the ears seem to come to a point- like an elf or a bat. This might actually be how his ears are- ears are funny things and often what is real can look strange. If, however, you didn’t look at his ears from a photo, and just wanted a “standard” ear… I’m not sure if I agree that they should come to a point. I understand that this is an orthagraphic view- My hope is that you will post images from other angles, because I think they would look interesting. Still- ear edits or no ear edits- I think you have done a fine job. One look- and you know who it is.

Very cool likeness. you said your going to do the rest of him, will he be in a typical matrix pose? & if comic_graig hadn’t mentiond his ears I wouldn’t of noticed but after reading his post I couldn’t stop looking at them. They seem ok to me. Looking forward to the updates.

Now I see what you are seeing, comic_craig. The upper edge of the helix protrudes slightly in the profile. On most people, the superior crux of the anthelix (large fork of the “Y” shape) tends to “push” the helix out a bit where it meets. Depending on the conchal angle, there will be a view angle where this extended edge of the helix can show up as a point, since the adjacent portions of the helix are pulled away from the profile. Big guns’s model-whether or not accurate in this particular sense-has the conchal angle set to where this “tip” happens to be in the front-on orthographic profile.
If I seem to be making a strangely big deal out of this, then I apologize… its just that the best head Ive ever done shows the ears in the same way, and I had to dig out my anatomy book to check myself
Hey there Big guns! I don’t feel like I should critique your work since it is some of the best character modelling I have seen, however… I will throw in my 2 cents and hope I don’t get slapped.
Mr Reaves ethnic origins are a mix of (I beleive) western (Canadian) and Japanese. With that said I think that his profile needs to be flatter. I am refering to the image you posted with the hair modelled, and the second from the right image. I just looks TOO western for my memory of him. Most east Asians have very flat faces from the side (no offence intended).
Just my thoughts… I hope they help.
