just wondering if the plan for upgrading will ever include....

updating from within zbrush itself…

right now, with r3, instead of just a complete reinstall of an r3 package, we have a nice update procedure.

but there are other apps (even something like google chrome) where you can click within the app on a button called “check for updates” and it will allow you to check and install from within the app.

is something like that planned?

because it would seem that zbrush, perhaps more than any other app out there because of its extremely generous upgrade policy needs a very streamlined way to get these updates to users as simply as possible - without the possibility of breaking something in the process as is the warning now with the r3 update procedure.

just wondering.

thanks.

p.s. sorry, i REALLY don’t want this to sound snarky because i don’t feel that way but one critique of zbrush in general that is reflected in the update procedure is this multi-step manual process of doing something when it could be automated by the program.

so if i’m updating, i just say that i want to update and program does everything it needs to do for me (checking if registered, de-registering if it is registered, backingup settings files [to a place where after you start r3, r3 can ask if you want to restore settings])… or in polypaint or zsphere retopo, enable me to push one button to get to what i want to do… instead of having to push a series of buttons manually to start doing what i want to do.

in other words, there should not be a multistep procedure to do ONE THING… or get to one result. why not make it idiot proof. cuz there are many out there… including me.

it would be really great if the interface (whether updating or invoking a zb function) would simplify in the future so it doesn’t take multiple button pushes to just get to a feature. thanks again.

Actually it’s been implemented into R3. Check under your Zplugin menu and you’ll see an Auto update button.

sweeeeeeeeeeet!

thanks. i hadn’t installed it yet to see. awesome and great news.
