just upgraded to win 7 pro and am having trouble installing zbrush 3.5r2

Hi, if this has already been answered just point me to the thread.

I just installed Zbrush 3.5 and 3.5r2 by copying the files out of the compressed file into the programs(86) folder under zbrush folder. the app won’t run. Is this how to install it? if not what is the proper method? I’m used to having an installer.

Sorry to bother if this has already been answered.

Would like to know too as my copy of windows 7 is being set out next week!!!
let me know dude, and good luck!!!

Ok, but no one has replied yet. when I try to launch zbrush as I installed it now it tries to load and leaves an icon on the task bar but nothing shows up.

Any chance you copied some Zbrush preferences from your old windows on there and the old one had a different monitor setup ?
It happened to me that Zbrush was opening outside of the screen area since the window position is something that is saved in the user prefs. Unfortunately the Zbrush window seems impervious to the usual Window arrange settings so the only way I could get it back was to make a large horizontal resolution, until I could see the window, move it back, save my user prefs.

If you have the icon in the taskbar Zbrush is defintely open and running, otherwise there would be an error dialog somewhere.

I’ve got it to run now, but it won’t run from the programs(x86) folder I’m running it from a folder on my F: drive. LOL

No it was a clean install and I am using the same monitor. When I ran it before I would get an icon on the task bar but no window would open. Hopefully Z4 will be even more awesome and have an installer. LOL

The troubleshooting dept helped me and now it runs correctly. anyone else having trouble here is the link to that thread.

I’m running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate - this sounds like the problem I was having. I set it to run as an Administrator by right-clicking the icon and checking the box next to the option under the Compatibility heading. It worked for me, hope it helps.
