just a lil thought...

hiho

here comes some a lil thought on why it
sometimes can be hard to follow tips and
advices fellow members give you.

  1. since ZBrush is only made to function
with english keyboards you might want
to see if you can set your keyboard layout
    to ‘english’ language setting.
to do that you go into ‘Control Panel’
    and double click ‘Keyboard’ icon.
you find the language setting under
    ‘Input Locales’(most likely).
‘if’ you are lucky you will find, together
with your native language an English option.
there can be more than one, like English(US)
    or English(UK).

  2. if you also see something called ‘Hotkeys
for input locales’ you are on your way ;D
this feature lets you ‘toggle’ between your
native language keyboard setup and english
    language keyboard setup =D
under ‘Key sequence’ you see the current
hot keys that lets you switch between the
    different languages.

  3. to try out if it works make a simple
text file and write some words. use the
hot keys to toggle between your native
    language setup and english setup.
if all goes well you’ll notice that some
keys are making diffrent characters than
    you are used to =)

so why did I write all this you say?
well, the one single character that have
made me say bad words is ~ or the tilde-key
as it’s called.
there is a hot key command in ZBrush that
uses ~ together with Alt(lets you move the
selected object backwards or towards you,
‘if’ used together with move or rotate).
this is one of the ZBrush hot keys that ‘don’t’
work on ‘non-english’ keyboards,
unless you change the settings like I described above.

so, if you feel you want to be able to follow
tutorials and tips given by our english friends,
learning how to swap between keyboard language
settings can be a great reward. just swap keyboard
layout before starting ZBrush =)

here are some examples of how a ‘swedish’
keyboard is layed out:

the default keyboard

here with Shift pressed

and here with the right Alt(Alt Gr) pressed

note that the ~(tilde key) lives far from
it’s english counterpart.

hope that this was helpful =)
