Judge, Jury, Executioner...

Yet again I sail the ocean of Warcraft orcs…

I did the base mesh in LW Modeler and brought him into Z-Brush for detailing. He’s still very much a WIP, but I think it’s a good start. I’ll detail him tomorrow and hopefully paint him too.

C & C welcome,

Dickie

Like the character much.
Perhaps too many rings a distraction?

Great job! I like the style. :+1:

I think when you add some pores and refine the texture he will be amazing!!I also think the rings are to thick, jmo tho.Bye cal

I love them orcs models, looks awesome

What technique did u use for the base mesh? Id like to know was it box modeling or poly by poly and if it was box, did u use something this: http://67.15.36.49/team/Tutorials/lonely_behind/lonely_01.asp or some technique of ur own. Did u start with the eyes or the nose or the mouth or everything together. Id really like to know, since im still trying to figure out which technique is better for me. Its a lot of questions but id be very grateful if ud answer. Thanks, a lot

hey friend !

are you going to have some hours of fun ;)?
great character as usual
keep it up bro !

When I say the thumbnail I said to myself looks like Dickie has posted something. It was nice seeing you the other night at the users meeting.
Looking forward to the progress on this guy.

What? no eyebrow ring?!

Haha - Rick beat me to it:

When I say the thumbnail I said to myself looks like Dickie has posted something
It could be a quarter of a thumbnail and still be distinctively your work, Dickie!
Love the cheekbones and neck modelling :+1:

Here’s a quickie update. I’m still playing with the painting and detailwork. Gotta fix the neck a bit too.

I’m heading out to dinner, so I’ll reply to the previous posts when i get back.

C & C welcome…

Looking very nice! The second render has much more presence and menace. Detail is looking quite nice.

Oh yeah, you’re getting somewhere good.

More greenerer though.

Ahhh, dinner is finished and now I’m enjoying a small cup of Cherry Garcia Ice Cream. A fine Sunday night indeed…

And Now, back to the replies:

Bicc39:Glad you like him… Yes, there are a lot of rings on him. Warhammer orcs typically have a bunch, but I went overboard on him to see how the material redered with t he skin.

Brainplug: Glad you like the style. It’s the only one I have, unfortunately. Which is actually a good thing in the end…

calum5ZB:He’s getting there. Hope you like the changes…

ciroman:Thanks! I started with a low poly head taken from Zack Petroc’s model he posted in this thread: http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=020709

I then pushed and pulled the points around using LW modeler’s tools (Mostly Dragnet). The I loaded him into Z-Brush and had a ball. Hope this helps ya…

Drummer: Heya, Bro! Glad ya like the Orc. I am having many hours of fun with this guy. Talk to you soon…

Rick:It was a blast to talk to you the other night also… I’m glad you can identify my style from the thumbnails. It’s not as refined as your style or some of the other heavy hitters, but I’m working on improving it. Wrinkles are the toughest nut to crack. I just need to do a bunch of them to develop a technique for doing them.

If you have any crits or suggestions, please post them as I learn from criticism, not praise…

Atwooki: Always a pleasure to hear from you… As for the eyebrow ring, well, they ARE pretty trendy… I’m glad you like the cheeckbones. I’m pretty happy with them. As for the neck, I’m still trying to come up with a way to sculpt them correctly.

Marsyas: Thank you… The second render is indeed more menacing. Warhammer orcs are traditionally cartoonish, so making him scary and cartooniy at the same time is a real challenge. I’m happy you are digging the detail. He’s getting there…

billrobertson42: Thanks for the comment, Bill… Yeah, I’m still trying to get a shader that shows the paint and still has a nice skin type property…
My current material has a good skin quality, but covers up the paint somewhat. That, and the fact I get pretty subtle with my colors. I’ll be amping the map for the next iteration…

Thank you all again for taking the time to comment on my work. I REALLY appreciate you time…:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

Dickie

Andreseloy

great work :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

i would do some skin damage and maybe some swallen were the ring meats the flash

Here is an update with a new skin shader. It’s a modification of LittleDedder’s LittleD shader. It makes a most excellent skin shader with the right lights…
Thank you, Little Dedder…:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

The hair is painted in Photoshop using the Nagel brushes I so love.

Hope ya dig him…

Super face! :+1:

Here’s yet another update where he is not as processed in PS. I like the skin a lot better here…Not as washed out…
