Always wanted to try a more traditional style but in digital sculpting using ZBrush. And what better opportunity than during the Creatuanary Challenge!
Sketch done in ZBrush of a Jorōgumo, mythical creature from Japanese folklore. The Jorōgumo can transform into a human form, often a stunningly beautiful woman, to lure unsuspecting victims.
For this concept, I aimed to preserve the beauty of the Jorōgumo almost untouched, while adding subtle arachnid elements to her face. This is juxtaposed with the lower half, giving her a more macabre and unhinged aura, with all those eyes searching for their prey.
