Game animation, or commercial animation, or film animation, what? That might give the community a better chance at being able to say how hard it would be to break in.

While I’m not too familiar with Houdini, I’d say Maya would probably be more widely used.

i quess commercial animation, or film animation.

good Houdini guys are rare but make tones of money it deals mostly with effects animation so i would go maya! its not hard to find work but be prepared to go from place to place for a while. as far as freelance you better be good and have at least a few years of professional experience before working remotely. id say move to la and go to gnomon you will be working in two years no problem. good luck! you have to eat and breath this stuff if you are serious about doing this, because the competition is tough!

Hehe thx dude but how can i suport my self for the fierst 2 years. and i would like so mach to go and work at gnomon but i dont thing its posible.

Can some one pls give me an example of work that it can help me anderstant the demanding level of knowlage and skill that i have to acquire until my third year of studies. this will help me adderstat if its posible or not.

thx again dudes

Here’s my story…maybe we’re similiar, maybe not

I went to my first college for Multimedia. I wanted to do web sites. I was introduced to 3D and wanted to ditch web sites all together. I graduated. I looked for another college to do only 3D modeling/animation. I found that college, but decided to go with a higher degree…but still multimedia.

During my time at my second college, I realized how much I loved web design. I also realized how much I sucked at modeling and animation. So I decided to go back to pursuing Web design and development.

Today, I work full time as a web designer/developer, graphic designer, etc. When I go home, I pop in training DVD’s for Maya and zBrush and I learn as much as I can…as a hobby.

Maybe one day i’ll be good enough to pursue a career in the 3D industry…but not today. Point is…keep your options open and don’t choose one path or another. If you’re a kick ass web developer…pursue that and earn a living with that. On your own free time, learn another skill.
