Jim Lee's Superman

Hi,

I’m back at work again and I thought I’d remodel Superman model’s arms and torso from scratch. As a few of you have pointed out, there was just too much definition. And also, I’ve downloaded the Zpetroc’s Skeleton Study, which was a real help.

Excellent work! :+1: How about posting some more angles on him?!

Cheers!

Highlander_72, Yup, sorry, I realised that you can’t actually see the new torso that well in that render. Here’s two other views of him.

What a marvelous sculpt . You are such a great sculptor! :+1: :+1:

man, nice work there.
not sure how i overlooked this untill now. really good stuff.
are you gonna texture/render the superman? would be nice.
small suggestion. just a little nitpicking. think you should taper out the snout of his boots a tad. to make it look more like a hard leather boot or so.
just a thought.

do you have a back view without the cap or didn’t you bother defining his back muscle etc…?

Mxhaunted: Hey nice seeing you post again, enjoyed your earlier sculpts. This footballer is superb, excellent in regards to pose and cloths dynamics. Though many wrinkles they are well placed and seem natural. I think my only lil tiny afterthought is that with how well detailed the hair, cloths and most of what I see on the body the face seems a wee bit plain. Maybe some forehead lines or skin detailing… possibly lil more expressive look for the face. Though it does seem like it still a wip so take it with a grain of salt since the sculpt is top notch and I really enjoy it. :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

good job on the shirt.

AngelJ, cheers dude. The initial idea was to make 3 models to be prototyped to scale (so about 6 foot high) so didn’t think it’s need too much fine detail. As for the expression… I played around with expressions of the footballer it’s based on but it never looked right. I ended up toning it down to a more controlled expression to what kind of face he would actually pull (to me he looks like Alan Partridge).

mjolnir, erm… thanks.

I’ll try and get a nicer render if I get the time.

hey, great work here. The anatomy is amazing. Using it as my desktop wallpaper atm for inspiration!

znut77, Glad you like.

Just thought I’d post up a nicer render which I’ve been using to practice lighting with.

Other than that… I’ve been working on a new small project that I’m hoping to show soon.

Thanks

Nice renders mate!! Looks like a model on a shelf.

Cheers Grell. That’s the kinda thing I was going for. Instead of using a HDRI I used a smoothed cube shape and then bounced the lights off the walls to fine tune the shape of the highlights and reflections. There are no lights pointing directly at the models.

Next time you’re on FB I’ll pass you a link to my latest little project. Can’t past it here as the admins will sneakily attach the image.

Really inspiring thread and work.
I like that dynamic lighting on the last two…Really enhances the dynamics of the figures…:+1:
