any comments would be great:D
Interesting concept. I would like to see the character and the accessories in separate, so that I could see the proportions and the silhouette.
As far as I can tell, you have some issues with the eyes, cheeks, brows, and eye sockets. The shape of the eyes feels a bit off (look at some eye references from the front view and check for the highest and lowest parts; I’s recommend drawing some horizontal lines). Plus, the eye balls need to be pushed back a bit. Also, you might want to carve the area of the eye sockets and push the brow muscles out. The eyebrows themselves are way to close to the eyes (but it might be because of how close the eyes are to the cheeks, as I previously stated). I see something strange happening with the back of his head (where it meets with the neck), but again, I would need to see the head without accessories.
As for the hard surface stuff, you need to keep an eye for the edges. the helmet has some edges that lose their shape, and become a bit claylike. Your mouth piece is the most successful out of the two. Again, watch some edges (like where the mask and the lines meet). Also, the grid in front of the mask needs some redefining.
Finally, next time, show some more angles (including higher views and lower views), some orthographic views (front, side, back), and a tad bit better lighting (check out Aurick’s “Creating a Better Demo Reel” Thread for some quick lighting setups: http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?t=144488 ).
Overall, it is a good start. Now it’s all about addressing those problems before moving on to a higher subdivision or working details. Make sure your base model looks solid. And look for tons of reference! Good pictures and good drawings (I like recommending Andrew Loomis). Good job! Hope to see more!
PS: Next time, I’ll be sure to draw in the pictures to point out the areas I talk about!
thanks for the reply but whats so funny is that fact that i use a carecature face and i mest up the paportions i lot but with the mask on i did not think any body would notis there was ment to be a glass over the face but it did not look so good so i toke it off and the eyes well i was never went to take my model this far franky i for got about then lol
and i was try to make a nather view of the charector but it takes along time to make all the renders to give it the finel look
and i have a very slow computer so i can put my suddivisons and higher
heres a picture of the pices the head was ment to be a joke for a qwick movie shot but i just didnt have the time to make a new one
I see. So in a way, the altered proportions are done like that on purpose. Well, either way, the face looks squashed (I’m not so sure about the head silhouette, though; it still needs some reworking, but it might be ok in size). Even for deformed, you still need to watch some references and make decisions accordingly.
Something I learned was that, no matter if you weren’t going to show some anatomy parts (because they were covered), you’d still need to at least create the base anatomy correctly, because it serves as a guide (plus, any funky things with the anatomy will show regardless).
Now, I would dedicate to fixing the head and the face. You can lower the subdiv two or three times, and use the move or move topology (my favorite) to fix the face and some overall silhouette. Remember that you can alternately mask areas and use the move tool (shortcut “W”) then go back to edit mode (“Q”) to fix the results with smooth or any other brush you like.
If you’re having problems with your computer, then do some quick BRPs without passes (but at least with shadows on), just so that you can capture some images with the side and perspectives (remember to turn ortho mode off for the perspectives). Worse case scenario, print screen and crop the UI.
Keep it up!
PS: As for the pieces, they do need more work, which mainly involves the connections. However, we’ll worry about that when you have a fixed head
well i made a great head but when i click save zbrush kick me out and i lost all my work the only one remaning was that one so i sead hell why not just put that head in because the mask was covering almost all the head i under stand head paportions work i use the golden ratio to find out
but i was not worrying about the makeing a was worrying about the finnel result but i think this is going to be the end of this project
and life go’s on any way thanks for you help
