Jester

Hi,

Thanks for having a look at my work. “Jester” was inspired by the City of Lost Children poster and a bunch of other stuff. I wanted to make a character where it was tech and organic modeling meeting together and had a good time doing it. Thanks again for taking the time to look at my work and feel free to drop any comments.

Very cool work!
Best regards, Selwy

i really like the sculpt on the hand.your attention to the detail is awesome

Beautiful…do u mind telling us where was it rendered?? The material blending from the arm onwards looks killer…is it through vigorous mapping or mat blending?
Also, it seems because of his posture he could be displaying some sort of a power ball or something thereby adding extra light source(just a thought)
Keep it coming:)

Hi guys,

Thanks for the nice comments. The render is pretty simple. I just set the canvas size a bit higher and rendered out a bunch of material passes and then put them into layers in photoshop and erased and adjusted for a few minutes on each image. Nothing very special about the materials… Just default from zbrush or a few pulled off of Pixologic’s website. I used the Matcap 5 with opacity turned to 70% for the skin which was from Scott Spencer’s tutorial.

On a side note… THANK YOU PIXOLOGIC for zbrush 3.5. I’m sooooo sick of pulling polys and whacked out complicated processes to make art. Good riddance to all the things you guys cut out of z-brush and thanks for keeping it simple and even more intuitive with the features still in place.

With your first image posted in this thread,i think that u have got such a variable sense of art.which is good actually.very nice colour scheme u have got there.but i think a little work on a silhoutte could make a big difference though.are u gonna texture this cool guy? :+1:

Nice job. :+1: :+1:

romilkchoprazb: Thanks for the crit. I’ve been just putting the shader to solid black while modeling and that’s helping with silhouette. I’ll look over him some more and cross reference with some other things and see if I can improve that. I’m not exactly sure what you mean by texture him. Putting in pores or such perhaps would be a good thing to do and that’s what I’m reading into your comment. Thanks again for taking the time to offer some thoughtful crits and post here.

Bas Mazur: Thanks for the nice thumbs up. Much appreciated.

Awesome :+1:

In the renders with the painted mesh seem to blend the body and armor together I think it might look cool if you defined the separation between the two a little more?

Hands are great, along with his expression. Very sinister.
