Impressive work well done.
Love the crispness in the anatomy! Really fantastic job and the turntable render turned out great, maybe you can do a little tutorial on how to set up a light and render like that, would be highly appreciated. Great way on showing your doodles!
Keep’em coming mate!
All the best and happy sculpting,
- Kenny:)
thank you, lighting is very simple, just default light slightly positioned above head and little bit more blurred shadows, as for material it’s default SkinShade4 with 30% of preview wax. Rest is color correction in nuke.
Next doodle, approximately 1,5hour. It was just training after lunch. It was sculpted without reference, just from my head. I really like dynamesh, it’s great for start. You can also watch whole timelapse at vimeo.

Really nice piece and great job!!! ^^
Chris
In 2010 I was working on quite interesting project and it’s time to share the result. The movie was a sequel to 40 years old “fairy tale”. I don’t want to talk about movies quality, nor story nor final VFX (guys had really lot of work and they’ve done great job delivering all shots in such a small team.)
I was hired by Qbone studio to model and texture two characters based on their concept arts.
Bazilisek, who was slimy, creepy creature and servant in fairyland, he was supporting character. I really polished my pipeline on this character, using modo, topogun, zbrush and photoshop. In the images you can find my 5K test render done in modo, zbrush grabs and topology.
Rehor was one of the leading characters, he’s professor in school of wizardry and also dwarf. Because of his importance in movie, I was supervised by Robin Benes, who was leading model supervisor on this project. It was great experience according to making proper topology and textures. I enjoyed working on this character a lot. You can also check my 5K render from modo, using my own skin shader, also wire and zbrush grabs. (He***8217;s missing beard, which were than made by guys in Qbone.)
I hope you’ll like those models, I’m very proud of them. Be sure to check turntable video below. Also check those 5K renders on my website.
Wow, great characters! I really like the dwarf. Textures and modeling are fantastic.
Your Characters are Awesome

Really cool scult !
thanks a lot
After a little while I have something new for you. At Kickstarter I’ve found great book project from CreatureBox, I was browsing their work and I’ve decided to model one of their creatures.
Original concept by CreatureBox.
I’ve made him completely in zbrush to get more experience with new features. Final image is done in photoshop, turntable is pure zbrush, no postproduction, just BRP filters.
enjoy!
Really nice work man! You did a good job translating the concept art, and Creature Box concepts have a ton of personality in them. May I ask what material you used in the final render there?
This is great!!!
One question, if you don’t mind and would like to help: how do you get the transparent face shield?
thanks in advance,
J
muahhahahahhaha
Nice work mate
polaroid29 - thank you man, material is very simple, it’s just SkinShade4 with color and little bit of WaxPreview. And for helmet I’ve used material from F.Storm here.
jlapeno - thanks, you have to setup transparency in material and then enable BPR transparency in Tool / Display Properties / BPR Settings / BRP Transparent Shading
Cinoklu - thanks a lot!
