Jan Jinda - Sketchbook v2 including timelapses

Hi there,
You can check my previous sketchbook here - http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?57697-Sketchbook-Jan-IcemanJ-Jinda, there you can find my beginnings and early works.

Now, it’s time to start new one, with more serious works. I’ve just begun to do some doodles, to improve my sculpting skill, and I hope that I’ll post more and more rapidly.

First one took me about few hours. It’s famous early movies actor Bela Lugosi and he’s my second likeness. I hope that he’s recognizable. I also know that there are some inaccuracies, but I want to move to next sculpt.

Here’s original photo http://www.doctormacro.com/Images/Lugosi, Bela/Annex/Annex - Lugosi, Bela_06.jpg

Well let me be the first to congratulate you an this. I new instantly from the thumbnail who it was and from what image it was taken.Beautiful work, but it pissed me off that you did it in a few hours, mine took me at least a week. Looking forward to updates on the.

Rick - thanks a lot, that’s honor to read your compliments. You think it’s fast? I think that I should be much more faster :))

Nice turntable!
Made it using Zbrush?

Great portrait :+1:

sure, just one light, wax preview and BRP

cherub_rock - thanks man

Impressive work well done.

Love the crispness in the anatomy! Really fantastic job and the turntable render turned out great, maybe you can do a little tutorial on how to set up a light and render like that, would be highly appreciated. Great way on showing your doodles!:+1:
Keep’em coming mate!:+1:
All the best and happy sculpting,

  • Kenny:)

thank you, lighting is very simple, just default light slightly positioned above head and little bit more blurred shadows, as for material it’s default SkinShade4 with 30% of preview wax. Rest is color correction in nuke.

Next doodle, approximately 1,5hour. It was just training after lunch. It was sculpted without reference, just from my head. I really like dynamesh, it’s great for start. You can also watch whole timelapse at vimeo.

Really nice piece and great job!!! ^^
Chris

In 2010 I was working on quite interesting project and it’s time to share the result. The movie was a sequel to 40 years old “fairy tale”. I don’t want to talk about movies quality, nor story nor final VFX (guys had really lot of work and they’ve done great job delivering all shots in such a small team.)

I was hired by Qbone studio to model and texture two characters based on their concept arts.

Bazilisek, who was slimy, creepy creature and servant in fairyland, he was supporting character. I really polished my pipeline on this character, using modo, topogun, zbrush and photoshop. In the images you can find my 5K test render done in modo, zbrush grabs and topology.

Rehor was one of the leading characters, he’s professor in school of wizardry and also dwarf. Because of his importance in movie, I was supervised by Robin Benes, who was leading model supervisor on this project. It was great experience according to making proper topology and textures. I enjoyed working on this character a lot. You can also check my 5K render from modo, using my own skin shader, also wire and zbrush grabs. (He***8217;s missing beard, which were than made by guys in Qbone.)

I hope you’ll like those models, I’m very proud of them. Be sure to check turntable video below. Also check those 5K renders on my website.
