jaggy sculpting on one side and smooth on the other

What would cause an issue like this - I’m investigating the possibility of using zBrush to ‘sculpt’ environments I’ve already built in other software packages and I’m just wondering how much work it would take.

It’s just a simple box model I’ve tried here with edge-loops to keep the edges refined.
