I’ve yet to find one good texturing tutorial for realistic human skin. How to paint human skin texture onto a model without using Zbrush’s shaders (since the texture has to be exported for use in other apps).

Anyone know of any? Not photo realistic but just painting human skin onto the model.

You would simply use Projection Master for this. Once you know the basics of how to texture in ZBrush, then any tutorial having to do with painting skin textures will work for you. It doesn’t even have to have been written for ZBrush.

In other words, ZBrush with Projection Master provides the technique. Once you know the technique you can use any source for learning the art. For example, the Character Modeling d’artiste book from Ballistic Publishing has excellent non-software specific info on painting skin textures.

I’d much rather pay $50.00 for a training dvd of some sort and watch a professional do it one time. I can learn much faster that way. Do you happen to know of a training DVD for Zbrush that specifically shows you how to paint realistic skin onto a model imported into zbrush without the use of Zbrush shaders? The model will be used in a game engine so I just need to make a nice diffuse map.

At the Pixologic site there`s an excellent skin creation tutorial by Kris Costa.

You can find the link here (the third and fourth menu option):

Then, import your ZBrush texture into your 3d app and map it as a diffuse color (sometimes overall color works best) for a subsurface scattering material and apply it to your model.
