issues with symmetry tool

hi,
when i’m initially sculpting my zsphere armature, when i enable symmetry to start doing the limbs, my symmetry always seems to be off somehow (angles are never quite right and my symmetry isn’t working symmetrically)…
anyone know what i’m doing wrong?

First, wherever possible use an extra axis of symmetry when working with ZSpheres.

Second, you need to have symmetry active from the start. The moment you draw a ZSphere without any symmetry it becomes virtually impossible to get it back.

Third, if you’ve been working with symmetry and gradually lost it (which can happen) try using the ReSym or SmartReSym deformations on the ZSpheres (not the preview mesh).

thank you aurick,

i pulled up several threads on symmetry after it dawned on me to try using the Search function, but your reply was pretty useful–i’ve been trying the extra axis on my old unsymmetrical model to great failure, haha.

time to start from sphere one i suppose…

There’s a zscript here which may help:

Load the file through the ZScript palette, then press ‘H’ on the keyboard so that the buttons show at the bottom of the UI. There’s a help button to tell you how it works.

Although this was written for ZBrush 3.1 it seems to work OK with 3.5 R3 (but take the precaution of backing up your model first!).
