Issues with Dynamesh Resolution

Hi guys,

I’ve got a few questions about using dynamesh and wondered if anyone could drop some knowledge and help me out.
I’m currently trying out of few of the workflow ideas that Mike Jensen covers in hard surface sculpting techniques 2. I’ve used
retopology to extract from a concept mesh, creased edges and subdivided. I’ve then converted a 2.5 mil poly with subdiv
levels to dynamesh, so I can use slice curves etc. But even at 1024 resolution the highest polycount I can get on the dynamesh
is 50k. I was wondering if anyone knew how zbrush determines how many polys it creates based on dynamesh resolution, or if theres some kind of setting that can be changed.

Thanks very much

Toby

Look in Tool > Preview and make sure that your mesh fills that entire window or bigger. If not, then go to Tool > Deformation and click ‘Unify’ or scale it up with the ‘Size’ slider. Dynamesh resolution is dependant on scale.

Thanks very much, that would make a lot of sense. A lot of the time I’ve GoZ meshes over to maya that I’ve created in Zbrush I’ve noticed that they are tiny.
