Is ZBrush right for me?

Hi Everyone,

I have only just started using ZBrush and I’m wanting to know if this will end up being the best program for me.

I am a photography student and I would like to do a series of conceptual, narrative portraits. As a student I am not able to afford all of the models, costumes, props or locations that I would love to use, so I would like to create them myself.

Is Zbrush only really best for creating characters? As that is what I mainly see here in the gallery.

Is there another program that is better for me to use to create a room or background, or props such as furniture to composite with my characters?

What about rendering the details like skin or bricks on a building? Are there other plugins that work with Zbrush to do this, or can it all be done in ZBrush.

The final output for my work will not be for animation or for gaming. I am wanting to create photo-realistic pieces of artwork in fantasy environments.

I am still getting my head around all of this so any advice is much appreciated.

I am a MAC user and pretty competent with Photoshop.
