is there a way to quickly change between front/back/side views (answered)

Hi Guys

I am a recent zbrush4 convert coming from 3dsmax land, so far i am impressed however I feel like I am missing an obvious feature. In max it is very quick to flip from the side to the top view (in the same viewport), but after much googling I cant see anything similar in zbrush, I find myself just rotating the object instead which seems backwards (and is slightly annoying to get the object lined up and straight when using the shadowbox), am i missing something?

thanks
Rob

PS I am aware of the quadview component, though I have yet to try this as the link on this site produces internal server error, anyone got a copy (since it is free)?

Are you snapping to the position you want with shift? All you have to do is start rotating, approximate to the position that you want, then snap to it perfectly with shift.

But you can download this very useful plug-in:

http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?t=49729

Download it, extract it, open the folder and move the file to Zbrush 4 > ZStartup > Zplugs.

Then in Zbrush, go to the edit menu on top, and you’ll see the submenu “XYZ tool position”. Dock the entire edit menu into the left or lower shelf, or wherever you want it for easier use. Also when you click on anything, the zscript menu will open below, you’ll see. When it appears, just click on “show action”, to deselect it and the menu won’t appear again.

I mostly use it for the perfect 45 degrees position, as there’s no way to do this with shift snap. You can only do it with this plug-in as far as I know.

It seems your link is wrong. Do you mean XYZ ToolPosition-AXIS_Plugin for ZBrush3 ?

 Yes. I had both open for some reason. Thanks.

Although the link I meant to post was actually this one.

Same plug-in but for Z 3.1.

Gonna update my post now.

I think Znub gave you the wrong link there. That one is for the ZSpere Tweak plugin. I think the one he meant to give you is this one. Post #8 . YAxisRotate plugin by marcus_civis.

Edit: LOL, and I refreshed the page before I posted this too and there were no corrections. Must type faster:)

 I have messenger open so I got the e-mail alert and when it’s Zbrushcentral I check it out immediately.

Znub…thats a good one too. Any problems using it in ZBrush 4?

None. Only thing that happens is what I described in my post. When you click on one of the positions the Zscript menu pops up. All you gotta do is deselect “show actions” and it’ll never happen again.

If you add the following line to your DefaultZScript.txt file, it will automatically turn off the ‘Show Actions’ button at startup.

[If,1,[IUnPress,Zscript:Show Actions]]

The best solution is to enable the Timeline and store a keyframe for each point of view. Then, use the left and right arrow keys to switch between keys.

thanks for the info guys, i do like that plugin, very useful ;0)
