Is there a way to download zbrush tutorials from Pixo for offline viewing?

Hello,

I was wondering if there was a way to download Zbrush videos from the Pixologic website or here on ZBC for offline viewing? I AM often on the road and would like to play them from my laptop when i have downtime. I don’t always have access to the internet while on the road, or it is just highly limited bandwidth. I Know this is an odd request, but is there a way to DL them and play them in VLC or windows media player?

Thank you,

~ Gridlost :o

If you view the page source of the video player, you can find the urls that point directly to the .mp4 files (you may have to search for ‘.f4v’ first and then follow that link to the page with the mp4). From there your browser should be able to save it.

If you are using Internet Explorer 9, it is very easy to extract the videos from your browser history.

note: The whole video has to load before it will appear in the browser history. You will see the orange load bar progress as you are watching the video. Wait until it gets to the end.

To save the videos…

  1. Go to ‘Tools’ menu and select ‘Internet options’.

  2. On the ‘General’ tab, under ‘Browsing history’, click ‘Settings’ button.

  3. When the dialog opens, click ‘View files’ button. This will show your browser cache.

  4. The easiest way to look for the file you want will be by looking in the file ‘Size’ column. Look for the largest file.

  5. The file you are looking for will have the video name with an .f4v file extention.

  6. Right click on that file and select ‘Copy’ then go to the folder on your hard drive where you want to save it. Right click in that folder and select ‘Paste’.

  7. Rename the file extention from .f4v to .flv. VLC media player will play .flv files.

note: it is easier to find the file you want if you clear your browser cache before you select which video you want to watch. (Tools > Delete browsing history…)

hint: You can look in your browser history quickly by placing a shortcut to the ‘Temporary Internet Files’ folder on your desktop. After you click ‘Settings’ in step #2, it will show you the location of the folder. This will eliminate steps #1,#2 and #3.

thank you everyone! I appreciate the advice and help

?

ok i got a problem. I am using windows 8. I follow your steps, but there is no f4v files in that folder. now what?

I also use Chrome, is there a better way with chrome?

this is the path it gives me.

C:\Users\Gridlost\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files

The folder is not emptied even though I tell it to clear the cache

ok wait nevermind. I found that I could do it with Firefox and Firefox add-in Video DownloadHelper. very easy to use Ihope this can help someone else as well.
